Working at a mind-numbing, stressful and oh, so boring job and feeling trapped by the paycheque.
Feeling like a something in my life was just off, but I couldn’t figure out what it was.
Feeling like my life was just gray and blah, but not feeling driven to actually doing anything different.
Trapped, stuck, yearning for more but afraid to lose what I had.
This is how I felt for years. I had a great job (on paper). I had great friends and an active social life. It was good, really it was. But as cliche as it sounds, something felt like it was missing. And I felt powerless to do anything differently. I couldn’t leave my job, it paid too much. And there was really nothing wrong with the rest of my life. So why the hell did I feel like I was watching my life pass me by?
Really, it is. So you’ve been feeling this way for a while – I hear you. I want you to know that it’s going to be ok, that it won’t be this way forever. Having this feeling is actually good news. It’s telling you that something is missing. The better news? You don’t have to fear anything. No one is going to make you do anything you don’t want to. It’s safe to surrender, to allow yourself to look at what you are feeling without being afraid that it’s going to mean you have to completely shake up your life.
You are in charge. You can go as slow or as fast as you want.
Because you are in the right place! Ready to let go of other people’s rules ask yourself what you are really wanting, needing, feeling? Great, because that’s when meaningful self-discovery & personal growth can finally occur. You have to let go of the notion that there is a right way and a wrong way and work on finding the way that is right for you. As you move forward and figure it out, not only will you lose the boredom and gray days, but you’ll also experience a surge in confidence and start to trust yourself again.
How am I so sure? Because that’s what happened for me.
It all started when a good friend (a great one, actually) asked me if she could coach me. I’d never even considered working with a coach before, but this person was taking the training to be a coach and wanted a practice client. I agreed, with great trepidation, out of a sense of duty to help a friend.
It turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me.
I was pretty scared as we started. I was petrified that if I was honest with her about the boredom, the grayness I felt in my life, that she would force me to make all sorts of drastic changes in my life that I just knew I wasn’t ready for. I actually considered lying to her and pretending I felt completely great. But, as anyone who knows me will tell you, I’m just not hard-wired to lie, so I told the truth.
I’m so glad I did! I was shocked and surprised at how gentle and loving she was, just asking questions and gently encouraging me to share how I felt and to stop hiding from myself. And, at the same time, without arousing fear or doubt, she led me safely to a place where it felt safe to question the assumptions that were keeping me trapped.
What I discovered was that it wasn’t the things in my life that needed to change (job, house, people) but that I needed to make some changes inside.
Now, it’s my mission to help you do the same. I’m Valerie, and I’d like to personally welcome you to coaching.
Imagine having a supportive best friend who picks you up when you’re down, supports you through the long haul, and reminds you that you are totally worth it, to show you that you are stronger than you think, and to share in your successes. That’s me.
I want you to wake up with purpose and excitement for the day. I want you to be on fire and feel driven to reach for your vision. I want you to feel fabulous in your relationships. I want you to have the confidence you desire. I want you to have everything you want. Because you deserve it.
I am 100% confident that you can do this, and I’m 1000% confident that I can help.
